Mr. Adisak Ruckariyapong (right), Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Sustainability Committee of Sappe Public Company Limited (SAPPE), reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing its business with sustainability at the core. SAPPE has joined forces with the Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Pollution Control Department, along with more than 149 organizations and over 16,000 FTI members.
Together, the parties are driving forward Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) under the Sustainable Packaging Management Act, aiming to transform post-consumer packaging into raw materials in accordance with the Circular Economy principles, thereby creating added value for both the economy and the environment. The seminar was also joined by Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul (center), Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, and Mr. Thongchai Sirithorn (left), Vice Chairman of TIPMSE.
For over 20 years, TIPMSE has played a crucial role in promoting integrated packaging management, covering eco-design, collection, sorting, recycling, and reuse. The institute has worked in collaboration with public, private, and civil society sectors to develop standards, best practices, and pilot projects that advance circular packaging systems in Thailand.
SAPPE, meanwhile, has continuously implemented sustainability initiatives in packaging and eco-design, including:
Replacing PVC labels with 100% PET labels on all products
Reducing plastic usage in product bottles
Shifting from virgin PET to Recycled PET
Introducing Tethered Caps to ensure recyclability and reduce cap weight
Using recycled paper for cartons
Additionally, SAPPE launched the internal campaign “Separate for Rewards”, encouraging employees to separate waste properly for recycling. The company also partnered with PTT Global Chemical (GC) in the “GC YOU-Turn” project, further strengthening waste separation awareness. This effort earned SAPPE recognition as a role model in corporate plastic waste management.
Both the collaboration with TIPMSE on comprehensive packaging management and the partnership with GC in promoting waste separation reflect SAPPE’s unwavering determination to work hand-in-hand with stakeholders in building a better and more sustainable world. This commitment is fully aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
